G & A: Riverview Wedding

Such a fun time with Glenn & Alyssa at their Riverview wedding! This was my last wedding for the year which is bittersweet, it’s nice to have a little “downtime” which consists of getting everything ready for the next season, but typically after a few weeks without a wedding I get a little stir crazy.

This was such a exciting wedding to be a part of. The ceremony took place at The Emanuel Synagogue in West Hartford underneath a beautiful decorated chuppah. We had their first look inside of the synagogue in front of large windows that let in some beautiful light. This is such a special moment – I try to stand back a little bit when space allows as not to be a distraction but still capture the moment. Guests were starting to arrive at this time so we quickly got them out of the room after the first look and over to the table where they would have the ketubah signing with the Rabbis. This is such a special part of the day as it is the Jewish marriage contract that is signed by the couple, Rabbis and two witnesses in a more private setting than the ceremony.

We went over to the Riverview for some more family formals as well as some photos of Glenn & Alyssa before joining in on cocktail hour. This was the first time that I’ve seen a sushi bar at a wedding and it was amazing! After everyone was introduced and took their seats, Glenn & Alyssa entered the room and had their first dance. Once they were seated for dinner the Rabbi came up for the HaMotzi which is a blessing of the bread. Now we are getting to one of the most exciting part of the day which is the Horah! After dinner everyone got up for the celebration where the bride and groom and sometimes other relatives get lifted up into chairs on the dance floor as people spin and dance. It is such a high energy time of day that can be tricky to photograph but so much fun. You really have to get elevated off the floor to get some great images when their up in the air but also get right into the dancing to be able to capture it.

Check out some of their images below or head over to some of my others blog posts!
