J & M: The North House Wedding
After getting to know Jason & Michelle during their engagement session at Elizabeth Park in Hartford, I was pumped for their North House wedding in Avon, CT. I had never been to the North House prior to their wedding so it worked out great when I joined them for a walk through before there wedding. This is a great way to spend more time with my couples and build that relationship that puts them at ease on there wedding day!
Both Jason & Michelle got ready at The North House which made for an interesting setup, as they were in the same room but separated by a divider. This was definitely fun as they were able to hear each other but couldn’t see each other which built up some anticipation for their first look. When it was time for their first look we went outside, the weather was beautiful, and had there first look near their ceremony site. It was such a beautiful moment between them.
I am a big fan of first looks for a number of reasons; it allows couples to see each other in a private setting where emotions can run free, it’s one of the few moments on a wedding day where they’re actually alone and get to take it all in, and one of the most important is that it allows most of the formal pictures to be taken before the ceremony so they can enjoy cocktail hour and spend time with their guests.
They had a very special ceremony surrounded by family and friends. One of the elements that made it really special is Jason’s daughter was apart of it during the sand ceremony which symbolizes them all coming together as one. I love little touches like this during a wedding, something to make it unique and more personal.
