C & K: Smith Farm Gardens Wedding
Chris and Kelly’s Smith Farm Gardens wedding was beyond beautiful! I had such a great time getting to know these two at the engagement session at Edgarton Park. It was so much fun getting to be outside in the snow playing around and then going into the greenhouse for a very different background. I have to admit that as soon as we stepped into the more humid greenhouse environment my lenses fogged up! Not a fun thing to deal with but fortunately went away quickly. When I arrived at Smith Farm Gardens I started photographing Kelly, her bridesmaids and brother getting ready. The lighting in the newly remodeled bridal suite is really nice to work with. During this time I took Kelly’s dress outside as there are many great spots around the house to photograph it. Once Kelly’s hair and makeup were done it was time to put on her dress and get ready for the first look with her father. I am a suck for first looks, they’re so emotional and it’s just beautiful. They had their first look in the living room of Smith Farm Gardens, which is a later addition to original house.
Another great first look is the couple – I personally love when this is a more private moment rather than a lot of onlookers which is what they did. Chris & Kelly had their first look on the front porch of the home. It’s such a beautiful location. With it all being painted white it reflections the light really nicely.
The biggest benefit to a first look is that now you can take most of your family, bridal party and couple photos before the ceremony. As the guests started to arrive we got ready for the ceremony. They dedicated to have their ceremony with the house in the background. I love the columns in this spot – love symmetry.
